Sir Will’s “LaurierLive” Students Continue to Broadcast from Home

Learn more about the team behind LaurierLive

LaurierLive is a student-run broadcast news station at Sir Wilfrid Laurier SS. Grade 11 and 12 students broadcast live announcements through closed circuit TVs in classrooms, and stream live to the LaurierLive Youtube channel at the start of every school day. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit and closed all schools, their broadcasts went silent, but only for a while. Thanks to their drive, they have been producing and uploading twice weekly creative broadcasts to Youtube, and now to LaurierLive.ca, since April 1st.

With a mix of SHSM and non-SHSM students, the crew of six key participants is just rolling with it and managing all aspects of their productions. They keep impressing through their dedication, creative techniques, teamwork and remote project management skills, and of course fun curiosity while still adhering to physical distancing rules. What’s more is that they are now asking for contributions from students and their families across the OCDSB. Please contribute with videos, photos, written work, and tell us how and what you are doing. What interesting things are you learning? Have a look at the crew’s work on LaurierLive.ca , and take the challenge.
